Using metallics isn’t a new concept in home design—in recent years we’ve seen a tremendous movement toward a variety of metallic shades from silver to brushed nickel. What is new, however, is the shift toward warmer, more traditional metallic shades. Namely, copper, bronze and rose gold.
These shades carry with them a sense of sophistication, classic inspiration and the tendency to make a space feel elegant and timeless.
These are also shades of metallic that can really warm up a space, as compared to something like silver or chrome. They add a sense of texture and depth that you aren’t often going to achieve with the lighter, sleeker shades of metal used in home design.
So how do you incorporate copper, bronze or rose gold into your home?
Lighting
Even if you have a space that’s extremely modern with clean lines and minimal color, consider doing something unexpected with the addition of warm metallic lighting. The copper/rose gold shade in the below picture isn’t just eye-catching, but it balances out the minimalistic design of the rest of the kitchen and adds a new dimension.

There’s a similar concept in the below picture—the space is very clean, which makes the pendant lights a standout feature of the room.

Accent Walls
Infuse a room with bronze or copper in the form of an accent wall. To really make it visually exciting, add texture to the wall as well.

Bathtubs
The stand-alone tub is likely to be one of the most popular bathroom trends of the coming year, and you can add even more style and warmth to your space with a copper or bronze tub.

Furnishings
Warm metal furniture really speaks for itself—it makes a gorgeous and timeless impact.

Kitchen Backsplash
Whether your overall kitchen design theme is modern or more traditional, warm metal tones can add instant glamour, particularly as a backsplash.
