Side tables are one of those great pieces of furniture that despite their typically small size, can really make a big impression in a room. I love accent and occasion tables, from console to coffee, but I’ve really seen some great designs happening in side tables as of late.
Side tables can be used to add some extra dimension into a room if they’re a quirky shape, they’re great for a pop of vibrant color, or they can become like a piece of art—plus, they’re functional.
You can add side tables beside your bed, a pair flanking your sofa, or beside a chair for a little more depth and differentiation for a particular zone in a room. Plus, you can let them stand alone, or you can layer them with your favorite books or lamp.
Here’s some amazing side tables I really have an affinity for right now:
1. Natural Elements
This table is great because of the natural inspiration and lines you get from the coral-inspired design. It gives you a bit of an unexpected element, but it’s a neutral color so you can really focus on the shape.
2. Zestfully Colored
Want to add color in a room? Add something like this lacquered end table. This one is a bold shade of yellow, but you can go with any color you love. You can get away with a lot in terms of color, particularly if the same is a small size and a classic shape.
3. Geometrically Inclined
From Zinc Décor
If you have a lot of clean lines and want to stay with a chic, linear look, consider a geometric table. It’s also a really light look, and not as heavy as a lot of end tables tend to be. This kind of table can also be great if you have really plush, oversized furniture and you want to lighten the look of the room a bit, or add some interesting angles.
4. Go Square
This square, blocky side table is really modern and despite the blocky size and shape, it manages to evoke a feeling of sleek, clean lines.
5. Subtle Sensibility
From Bobby Berk Home
If you want the functionality and the presence of a side table, but you feel like you already have a room with a lot going on, opt for something in acrylic. It’s bold thanks to its shapes and lines, but you can balance out a room and keep it from becoming overwhelming thanks to the clear material it’s constructed with.
6. Grecian Glamour
If you want to add a little glamour infusion into a room, without making it too ornate and over-the-top, choose a glitzy table style.
