Kelli Joins Christopher Kennedy For Modernism Week In The Desert
Kelli designed a beautiful kitchen for the Christopher Kennedy Compound House Tour inspired by blogger Kelly Golightly’s timeless style.
What a fabulous weekend out in the Palm Desert celebrating timeless modernism style with some of the world’s best designers and bloggers. The desert sky and mountains were the perfect backdrop for this year’s beautiful exterior and interior designs of the Christopher Kennedy Compound. I was so thrilled to be asked to be a part of this incredible event again this year. I always have such an fun time collaborating and designing for charity with some of my close friends.
A Glam Kitchen Fit For A Star:
Christopher asked me to design the kitchen this year for the collaboration home tour with star blogger Kelly Golightly (Kelly Lee). If you’re familiar with Kelly’s classic aesthetic, you know she was the perfect inspiration for this kitchen and home. She is a quintessential girly girl and she wanted an open, airy kitchen feel, but also glam and so I had to combine all of those things.
I used light, feminine touches like the gold accessories and table settings to make it very Kelly without interrupting the sleek modern feel. I couldn’t do modernism without clean lines, bright open space, but I wanted a feminine glam feel as well so there are accents of flowers and gold throughout.
We created the ultimate modern wine bar complete with oversized art and fabulous accessories that gave it the “glam” pop we wanted for this old hollywood star style getaway in the desert. The result was bigger than life! Luxury doesn’t have to mean busy, and that’s what I wanted to communicate with spaces like this.
I kept the lines very clean throughout the whole kitchen and let the small details do the talking. Gold brushed everything made for a hint luxury in the simplicity. The backdrop for all the fun accessories and furniture is starch white and gray marble so they really pop. I wanted it to look effortlessly glamorous without being gaudy.
I used a tile from my own collection from The Tile Bar. This one is a really clean gray-toned marble with flecks of mirror throughout that give it a glamorous, feminine touch. It’s just dramatic enough to be a worthwhile backsplash but not too much to take away from the clean, modern look.
Style for a cause:
I was so proud of this design and so honored to be apart of this opportunity again! So many people from all over the world came to see our work and enjoy modernism week with us in beautiful Palm Springs despite some unfortunate weather! Each designers brought their best and the result was one of the best collaborations I’ve ever done for a great cause! This is why Modernism Week is one of my favorites of the year. I can’t wait to see you all next year!
