Spring is officially in full swing which can only mean one thing—it’s time to get those outdoor spaces looking as good as inside of your home.
The American Home Furnishings Alliance recently released their survey of American households showing how they plan to focus their attention when it comes to furniture and décor.
Within that survey was this— more than 80 percent of the household respondents say they plan to buy at least one outdoor piece of furniture or an accessory this year. Crazy, right? The research went on to show those coveted outdoor areas are becoming people’s preferred place to entertain and relax, so why not make it gorgeous?
Based on the AHFA survey, these are a few of the concepts shaping up to be most prominent this year:
Forget the formal dining room—why dine inside when you can take the party outside? According to the AHFA survey, lots of people plan to invest not only in outdoor dining furniture, but items that are large-scale, durable and look a lot like their interior counterparts.
Spark a Conversation
If you’re entertaining outside it’s great to have furniture that makes it easy to converse. Like the large dining tables, many of the other furniture options people are turning to outside are a reflection of what we’ve traditionally seen inside, like sectionals and modern crescent-shaped sofas that make it easy to talk and engage with other people, plus they’re spacious enough for lounging.
It doesn’t have to be all about the neutrals when you’re decorating an outdoor space—have some fun and bring the color. It’ll feel vibrant and exciting.
The hottest fire trends in outdoor design aren’t about creating a campfire—fire is moving to the next level with beautiful pits, modern tables and other types of fire-centric furniture. Adding fire to your patio, deck or balcony is not only stylish but it’s also a good way to spend more time outside, even when the weather turns cold.
What do you think of these trends—are they already on your radar?
