Artfully Appealing Furniture

July 11, 2014 by Kelli Ellis

In today’s design world, furniture, and in particular modern furniture is really pulling double duty. There’s amazing options that aren’t just functional, but also serve as a piece of art.

What’s great about these modern designs is that they’re so different from mass-produced furniture. If you’re a homeowner who wants to add something different, or create conversation around a piece of furniture in a room, adding a unique, modern item is a great way to achieve that.

Even if you’re not ready to do a completely modern overhaul on your home, many of these pieces also mix well with a more traditional overall design, for an unexpected twist.

Modern, unique furniture designs can be used to introduce attention-grabbing shapes or lines, or to add a pop of color in an otherwise neutral room.

Barstools and Chairs Make a Big Statement

These barstools from Michael Stolworthy really caught my attention. I love the design, but they’re also completely functional so you’re getting a great seating option that looks more like a modern sculpture.

Along with Michael Stoworthy’s sculptural designs, here are some other modern chairs and dining chairs that make a big impact.

Illuminating Lighting Design

Along with chairs and barstools, another great way to utilize modern, artistic designs is through your lighting selections, whether it’s an art-like fixture, or a lamp.
