Master bathrooms are among my favorite areas in a residential home to design. Even though it’s small, a killer master bath can be a huge upgrade to the home and extremely valuable at selling time. There is very little to actually work with in a master bath design, so it’s important to be deliberate and impactful with your design decisions. Here I’m sharing with you a few of the design elements I love to include in my client’s designs for a stunning master bath:
Natural stone flooring:
I just used this in my own new master bath and I have to say it is the only way I like to do bathrooms now. Natural pebble flooring gives a master bathroom an incredibly organic look and feel. They are really comfortable to stand on. It makes you feel like you’re in nature in your own home. The best part is they can be done in a variety of tones to match different looks. My favorite is dark gray or black pebbles. These really can be mixed into nearly any style for a touch of nature.
Metallic accented tiles:
These tiles you see here are from my own line with Tilebar! I used this one in my new master bathroom in Las Vegas you see here. I originally had these saved for a kitchen or bar but using this for the bathroom was the best idea ever! This tile adds so much light and reflects what would be a really dark bathroom. It’s really glamorous and luxurious without being too over the top as well. One huge benefit is that it is incredible easy to clean and keep sparkling for a fresh look.
Built-in Wall Niches:
I love this idea so much every time I see it. I can’t believe I don’t see it more! Once you’ve done it once, it’s impossible to understand why anyone would ever bother with shelves! These are such a nice accessory for any master bath. A niche can be made to be a feature with tile, like you see here, different from the rest. They are so functional. A niche doesn’t take up shower space like a shower shelf does, it uses existing space much more wisely. Your clients will think this idea is brilliant.
These trends are so diverse and functional, I don’t even want to call them trends. There are game changers for master bathrooms and I feel like they’re so underutilized. Any bathroom with these features is sure to up the overall value. Your clients will thank you!
I hope these design ideas help you in your future work!
